Easily create star-lush lashes

Recently, the world's beauty laboratories have introduced some radical technological changes: brushes that are flexible, curved and even vibrant, with mascara formulas that lengthen, add volume and improve the condition of the lashes.

So this spring, shape a whole new lash look by learning all the right moves, then select the formula you need for your most flattering flutter.

Step by step towards the most beautiful lashes

Use an eyelash curler (unless your lashes are sensitive or weakened, in which case you should limit its use to special occasions). This will not only curl your lashes, but it will also separate them, so the mascara will apply more smoothly.

New wands generally contain too much product to allow you to go straight from the barrel to the lashes, so gently wipe off the excess, preferably on a kitchen towel (tissues tend to have too many fibers that can get into the formula).

Work your upper lashes from the inner corner out. Looking down into a hand mirror encourages you to brush from root to tip. For more strength, move the brush very slightly at the root, this will ensure that more mascara is deposited at the base. Go through the lashes and tilt the ends with mascara to lengthen them as much as possible. If mascara builds up, use an eyelash comb (or an old, washed mascara brush) to separate the lashes while the product is still wet; if it is too dry, this can cause it to come off.

Without reloading the brush, move on to the lower lashes as they are thinner and don't need as much layer. For hard-to-reach lower lashes, use the tip of the wand, holding it vertically, to 'paint' them (provided you have already wiped off the excess). If mascara tends to land on your skin, hold a hand mirror just above eye level and look up; This will clear the lower lashes from the under eye area.

Mascara mixology

Work on the benefits of different textures and colors; For example, try lengthening mascara followed by volumizing mascara for added drama. Or wear black mascara first, then tap tips with a variety of colors so your lashes have depth but also catch the light as you blink.

Tips

If you have round eyes, focus more on the outer Lash lifts for a winged effect. If you have narrow eyes, focus more mascara coverage in the center of your lashes.

If you have blonde or red lashes, a deep brown shade tends to tone more easily than deep black.
