As mentioned earlier, there are different ways of internal and external use to reap the benefits of rockrose.
Rockrose - Internal use
The most popular form of application of the rock rose is rock rose tea . The tea does not contain caffeine, is tasty, aromatic and tart. To take advantage of the therapeutic effects of the medicinal plant, pour one liter of boiling water onto two tablespoons of dried rockrose leaves (steeping time: 5 min). The tea should be drunk throughout the day. A second infusion is not suitable for an optimal healing effect, but for enjoyment. If you don't like the taste of the tea that much, try a mixture with other herbal teas (e.g. peppermint, lemon balm, chamomile ...), mix the tea with some juice or add a natural sweetener (e.g. stevia).
Rockrose is now also available in capsule or tablet form, but the medicinal properties of freshly brewed tea are to be preferred or at least it is advisable to take the tea with it.
Rockrose - External use
For use on the skin, a stronger cistus brew is suitable for skin pads or mouthwashes. You can make this slightly stronger brew of rockrose tea by simmering 10g of rockrose leaves in 0.5 - 1 liter of water for 5 - 10 minutes and then pouring them through a sieve into bottles and storing them in a cool place.
Rockrose essential oil for use on the skin is also popular. To do this, mix the rockrose oil in a ratio of 1:10 with a base oil or add it to a self-made cream or ointment, for example.
What to look for when buying rockrose?
If you buy rockrose tea you should make sure that only the pure petals and no other parts of the plant (e.g. wood or cuttings) are contained in the tea. In addition, the flowers should have been carefully processed in the fine cut.
Buy Cistustee only from controlled organic cultivation, as this was grown and processed particularly gently and sustainably. In this way you can be sure that no further chemicals, pesticides or other additives have been added that would negatively affect the quality of the tea cistustee.
Since it is a medicinal product, you can buy rockrose tea in pharmacies or on the Internet.
Rockrose tea - side effects
Rockrose tea has few possible side effects that can result from excessive consumption and can be attributed to the high content of tannins and polyphenols. These include nausea, dizziness and stomach upset. As with anything, the crowd makes the poison.
Interactions with other drugs have not been researched, but from the high tannin content one can conclude that other drugs could be restricted or impaired in their effect through high consumption. Therefore, do not take capsules with cistus extract at the same time as other medication, but allow about an hour between ingestion.
